Politeness
I'm not one to say "when I was a young fella, people had manners and were polite". After all, I'm only 32 years old myself. I tell you what though, both are hard to find. Would it hurt to smile when you walk past someone? Say g'day? Maybe.. Please and Thank You from time to time? Lets face it, in this age of TV and internet, people have forgotten about these values. Some have even forgotten spelling and grammar. Do they still teach these in school, or? Sometimes I wish I lived in an age where everyone smiled and greeted each other on the street. Like those old black and white movies set in the 30's. (but perhaps without the constant singing bit) Yesterday I caught the bus for part of my journey home. The bus driver welcomed each and every person on board as they walked past him AND bid them a good evening as they stepped off the bus. What a great feeling! I could go on and on and maybe delve in to customer service in retail, but that would be an epic post on it's own. Smile and greet someone today, keep doing it and see how long it takes until someone smiles and greets back at you.
