Inverted Reality

PS3 and AppleTV friendly files

I've been recording TV shows lately, and encoding them to suit various media players including PS3 and AppleTV. I wrote a blurb here on cinemamac.com check it out.

Upgrade Playstation 3 Hard Disk

Media_httpnewscnetcom_ygded

Earlier I wrote about how I upgraded the hdd in my wife's Macbook Pro from 80GB to 320GB. Well I recently sold the machine, upgrading to the 13" MBP. I kept the 320GB disk and decided it would be great in one of the PS3's, especially since running the PlayTV tuner which really sucks up valuable PS3 hard disk space.

The disk swap was easy. Go to the Settings, System, Backup. Do a backup to a spare external USB disk (fat32)

Remove the cover from the bottom of your PS3, use a philips screwdriver to undo the sliding chassis, remove the drive, it's pretty simple.

Once replaced, do a Restore from the same settings menu above. It could take a while depending how much stuff you have on your PS3. When done, it will be just like it was before, but... with more capacity. NICE! enjoy it

Sony PlayTV

Media_httpimggamecouk_gcfkz
So, I bought a "PlayTV" from the UK. It is basically a PVR, it records free-to-air television to your Playstation 3 hard disk. Nice. I've only had a quick play, the EPG is nice, and it works. Recorded a show to disk, worked fine. I'm going to need to upgrade the hard disk in the PS3 to deal with the recordings I think!

Little Big Planet

Media_httpwwwinverted_zfkfb
Okay, if you have a Playstation 3 go and buy a Playstation 3, and get yourself "Little Big Planet". This game is absolutely EPIC and will sell so many PS3's. I was given the game after my father in law bought a PS3 and didn't want to even look at LBP assuming it was just a kids style game. No. this game is massive. Think side scroller, mario bros style, but 3D, killer soundtrack, killer visuals, 4-player co-op (including online), voice, create modes, intense customization in so many ways. Seriously, look at it, I've been up late at night since I loaded the disc into my PS3, for several nights, SO GOOD.
