Skype Screen Sharing - It works

I have a friend that lives about 250km's east of me and lives on I guess what you could call a farm, or large property. You could say he's a property manager, he works the land! He phoned me up and said he was having some trouble with both his computers and asked if I could help out. What a perfect opportunity to try the new Skype Screen Sharing feature! He signed in after downloading the latest version of Skype and away we went. He has a satellite connection at his property, so it's a little laggy at times, but the voice call seemed to be very clear all whilst using screen sharing. I was able to diagnose and solve both the problems he was having just by seeing his screen and talking him through the steps to solve each problem. I believe it uses adaptive technology to provide the best possible picture for the connection at hand. So it can occasionally look a little blurry or grainy. I should also mention you cannot gain control of the screen at all (at least I couldn't find an option) so you cannot assist, only view. Still pretty good. Now for a screen cap: [caption id="attachment_424" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="i can see u"]

If you don't know what a widget is, your a goon. Open your dashboard by hitting F12 (or F4 on newer mac's) if that doesn't work, panic! Get yourself the iSlayer istat pro widget Now, it monitors network interfaces, pretty wild eh? When you connect your iPhone by USB or Bluetooth, you should see it as an interface in istat... keep your eyes on that data if your monitoring your usage. OR use your providers usage page, OR, check out iiQuota on the appstore (supports most of the big name carriers) Enjoy!
