Latte sipping techno weenies

Media_httpwwwinverted_tjpjv
Are Apple Mac owners Latte sipping techno weenies? If so, what about Latte sipping, Vespa-riding Mac owners? What kind of image are Mac owners portraying, and what about coffee snobs? and what about Vespa riders? Mac owners like good coffee. Vespa riders like good coffee. Not all Mac owners and coffee drinkers ride Vespa's. Not all Vespa riders own Mac's. But I bet there are a whole bunch of people like me.

Skype Screen Sharing - It works

I have a friend that lives about 250km's east of me and lives on I guess what you could call a farm, or large property. You could say he's a property manager, he works the land! He phoned me up and said he was having some trouble with both his computers and asked if I could help out. What a perfect opportunity to try the new Skype Screen Sharing feature! He signed in after downloading the latest version of Skype and away we went. He has a satellite connection at his property, so it's a little laggy at times, but the voice call seemed to be very clear all whilst using screen sharing. I was able to diagnose and solve both the problems he was having just by seeing his screen and talking him through the steps to solve each problem. I believe it uses adaptive technology to provide the best possible picture for the connection at hand. So it can occasionally look a little blurry or grainy. I should also mention you cannot gain control of the screen at all (at least I couldn't find an option) so you cannot assist, only view. Still pretty good. Now for a screen cap: [caption id="attachment_424" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="i can see u"]

New Mac's

A few weeks ago Melissa and I purchased a new Macbook from her uni.. a 2.4Ghz Unibody Macbook. It's nice, and it's fast, and it's quicker than her old 1.8Ghz Macbook Pro.

2 weeks later, Apple released new Macbook's again and pulled the Macbook 13" unibody into the "Pro" line.

The update isn't really worth getting upset about, it's nice to know Apple are updating their products regularly.

I'm now using Melissa's Macbook Pro to replace the old G4 Mac Mini I was using, until I decide to buy a brand new Mac. I guess I'll at least wait for Snow Leopard to be released!

oh boy do I need a new Mac

I sold my orig Rev A core duo Macbook Pro a few months ago, in prep for the new ones. I've now been provided a work laptop (a fricken HP, vomit), I'm wondering if I should bother with an Apple notebook anymore or go a 24" iMac. I need something that will edit HD video with ease, the old Macbook Pro didn't really have issues. I wonder if a new Macbook would be okay, just a 2.4Ghz, 4GB Ram.... hrmmm, or iMac! In the meantime, I've removed the kitchenmac and it's being used on my desk right now. G5 1.8Ghz FTW!

kitchen mac

If you haven't checked it out already, head to www.kitchenmac.com and take a look. Not because it's one of my sites, but because it's different, bordering crazy! (apparently). I installed a mac in my kitchen! it's pretty cool, visitors love it. I hope to have some software reviews and even perhaps some recipes online in the future Here's a quick video I did for the site:

nine AM new years day

urgh! I don't know how else to explain how my body feels right now. I'm too old for parties and constant drinking! Melissa and I went to a party last night, it was fun, we had BBQ, and tequila jelly shots. Enough said. The last couple of weeks off work has been great. My mother came from the UK, we went down south to Margaret River and stayed in a lovely cottage on 5 acres (same one we stayed in for christmas '05). What a nice break away. The wine was GREAT this year. Melissa is 29 weeks pregnant now, coming along nicely! I'm very excited about being a dad and have lots of work around the house on the go, in preparation. I'm going to try and get fitter this year. At least walk the dog more, and do some sit ups or something. Beer gut is nasty! I also want to landscape the front and back yards, make more money with my own business, learn something completely new, get a pay rise at work (no chance, govn jobs, urgh), get a phat new monitor for my desk at home (when my own business makes more money!), and just be a good father to my little girl when she comes into my life. I've had a terrible ebay experience over the last couple of months. I bought a pocket bike off ebay (those little 49cc mini bikes). I thought it would be fun to ride around with some mates who have them. It still hasn't arrived after paying for it in mid-Nov. I've raised a dispute on ebay, and hope the seller gets my bike or money back to me really soon. I've heard some great excuses! anyway.... The in-laws are finally going to buy a MAC. We've convinced them. Yay for that. No more viruses and spyware to kill their machine. We're going to get them the top-model 20" iMac. I have no doubt they will just love it! My websites are going okay, not much has progressed on a lot of them. My popular site leopardtricks.com is doing fairly well, and has over 11,000 subscribers. I did have almost 13,000 just before Christmas! Amazing! I expect to have a lot more visitors during January as people get Mac's or Leopard for Christmas. I've got two websites to build for a client. I've already started on one. Thats good. All of my sites and clients sites were down the other day for over a day. Thats bad. My server seems fine, but my host/provider had some kind of network issues *sigh*. Lucky I don't have any super critical web sites on my server! Anyway, it's 9:30 AM now, enough dribble. Have a great 2008 (that rhymes!) and smile!

Mac for Media or Cinema?

I'm putting together some information on mac's and their place in the home cinema or a/v setup. Do you have a mac connected to your a/v gear to watch movies/tv shows, etc? I'd love to hear what you've experienced, any tips or tricks, what software and hardware you use, etc. Anything is useful. Does the Mac have a place in home cinema/media? We know the AppleTV does....
