Leopard Tricks work

I've been doing a fair bit with leopardtricks.com lately. Adding loads of video's to compliment the tricks already on the site. I've expanded in to youtube, twitter, and a facebook page too, for more reach and more subscribers. In two days my RSS subscribers have jumped over 1000. Must be doing something right.

site banner added

So there's a site banner up the top there. RELAX it's not advertising.. well not really! It's actually a banner I had made up for another site that I run. leopardtricks.com. I've been running the site for a while now (since the release of OS X Leopard), it's been slowly becoming quieter and quieter. I've basically run out of content to post to the site! If you have a cool tip or trick, please feel free to register on the site and post it up!

New Mac's

A few weeks ago Melissa and I purchased a new Macbook from her uni.. a 2.4Ghz Unibody Macbook. It's nice, and it's fast, and it's quicker than her old 1.8Ghz Macbook Pro.

2 weeks later, Apple released new Macbook's again and pulled the Macbook 13" unibody into the "Pro" line.

The update isn't really worth getting upset about, it's nice to know Apple are updating their products regularly.

I'm now using Melissa's Macbook Pro to replace the old G4 Mac Mini I was using, until I decide to buy a brand new Mac. I guess I'll at least wait for Snow Leopard to be released!

I'm still using a G4 Mac

Last year I sold my Macbook Pro, in anticipation of new models. The new models came... I still haven't replaced my old MBP. Why? Well I wanted the new Macbook, only, it doesn't come with firewire, I need firewire for my Canon HV30 video camera. FAIL Apple. So I was looking at a new Macbook Pro. That got me thinking, why not go for the 17" MBP, the new unibody boasts excellent battery life, and it also has the FullHD resolution display (as per the previous model). The only problem is, it's a $6,000 machine here in Australia. Can I justify the expense? yes.... when I'm more cashed up. In the meantime, can you believe I've been using an old G4 PPC Mac Mini? I'm talking 1.42Ghz, 1GB ram, 80GB hdd. It's so old! but you know what, I've got leopard on it and it's working fine. Well, fine for E-mail, web, and some basic tasks anyway! It's amazing how these old machines can still be put to use, especially if it's for basic tasks. I sure do miss the power to be able to edit and encode HD video's! I'll probably be buying a new Macbook Pro in a week or so, if things go as planned.

From 0 to 11,000 blog subscribers in under a month

I've posted previously about www.leopardtricks.com a popular blog for tips and tricks for Apple's latest operating system "Leopard". I mentioned the site hit an amazing 3,000+ subscribers at some stage. This was late last year after the site was running for a very short period of time. Two months later. leopardtricks.com now has (currently) 13,860 subscribers. (as shown by feedburners stats) Not bad for a site that I built in November 2007. Maybe someone will buy it off me!
